The Chinese delegation to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games is the delegation sent by the People's Republic of China to participate in the 33rd Summer Olympic Games. This is the twelfth time that the People's Republic of China has participated in the Summer Olympics since 1952. All athletes in the delegation are from mainland China.
The Chinese sports delegation to the 2024 Paris Olympics is the delegation sent by China to participate in the 33rd Summer Olympic Games. The delegation consists of 716 people, including 405 athletes (136 male athletes and 269 female athletes); 311 staff members, with Gao Zhidan as the head of the delegation [35].
The Chinese sports delegation has obtained the qualification to participate in 30 major events, 42 sub-events and 236 minor events in the Paris Olympics, which is the largest number of minor events participated in the Olympic Games by an overseas country [41]. The average age of the athletes is 25 years old (the oldest is 37 years old and the youngest is 11 years old). It is led by 42 Olympic champions and 223 are participating in the Olympic Games for the first time. There are 26 ethnic minority athletes from 12 ethnic minorities, including Mongolians, Tibetans, and Kazakhs. Among the staff of the delegation, there are 42 foreign personnel, including 34 foreign coaches [35].
On June 25, 2024, the award-winning equipment of the delegation, with Zhang Yimou as the creative consultant, was officially released in Beijing [37]. At 10 a.m. on July 13, the mobilization meeting for the establishment of the Chinese sports delegation for the Paris Olympics was held in Beijing [33-34]. On July 22, the delegation arrived in Paris [38]. On July 24, it was officially announced that table tennis player Ma Long and synchronized swimmer Feng Yu would serve as flag bearers for the Chinese sports delegation at the opening ceremony [40]. On the evening of July 26, local time, the 2024 Paris Olympics opened, and athletes from the Chinese sports delegation held national flags and cruised on the Seine [42]. On July 27, the Chinese team Huang Yuting/Sheng Lihao won the first gold medal for the Chinese team in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team final, which was also the first gold medal of this Olympics [45].
